Shed Bar

Designed and built in 2017 during Hayden’s first year of apprenticeship, this all-cedar shed bar doubles as a summer entertaining space and a winter storage shed. A small-footprint project that reflects creative design, trust-driven collaboration, and enduring client relationships.

The Shed Bar was designed and built in 2017 by Hayden during his first year of apprenticeship. Constructed entirely from cedar, the structure features a resin-finished cedar bar top and a classic, understated design that makes creative use of a small footprint.
Originally conceived by the client as a flexible outdoor structure, the Shed Bar functions as a bar and gathering space during the summer months and transitions into a practical storage shed in the winter. The project reflects a simple idea executed thoughtfully, balancing function with character.
This build remains especially meaningful as an early example of the collaborative design process Hayden enjoys most. The client brought the initial concept and trusted Hayden to develop and refine the design—an exchange where ideas evolved through conversation and mutual understanding. That trust carried through construction, where the concept was fully realized through hands-on craftsmanship.
Nearly a decade later, the relationship continues. These clients remain good friends, and whenever possible, Hayden still stops by for a drink—and an informal follow-up inspection—when he’s in the neighbourhood.
